Typical of the 18th and 19th centuries the French cage is recognised by a brass or bronze frame dressed in a variety of traditional drops and pendants. The French cage is our most popular continental chandelier, illustrated here is a polished brass finish 16 light example, wired with tall cream tapered candles and dressed with the traditional drops and pendants.
The Dutch or Flemish style typical of the 16th century are instantly recognisable. Early versions were made from cast brass or bronze and later ones made using lighter weight spinnings.
The reproduction seen here features 15 lights, however a three tier 24 light version is also available.
